Amex, CBD in bill payment deal

American Express Middle East and North Africa, has signed an agreement with Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD) to enable its UAE-based cardmembers with bank accounts with CBD to settle their monthly bills online.

The bank said cardmembers holding bank accounts with CBD can settle their monthly American Express Card payments online through CBD's website (www.cbdonline.ae) and the payments will be processed the next working day.

Established in the United Arab Emirates in 1969, Commercial Bank of Dubai offers a wide range of consumer and commercial banking products and services through a network of 27 branches and over 150 ATMs across the UAE.

'American Express is committed to providing excellence in servicing our Cardmembers. By adding this payment channel, we have stepped up everyday transactional ease for our Cardmembers,' said Girish Marathe, senior director for UAE at American Express.

'By partnering with a progressive bank such as CBD, that owns strong online facilities; our Cardmembers can avail of efficient payment channels and enjoy the ease of bill payments at no extra charge.'

Jassim Al Tamimi, head of eBanking, CBD, said: 'As our customers lead increasingly busy lifestyle, flexibility in banking operations provides them with enhanced convenience. In addition to our strong financial dynamics, CBD has focused on expanding the branch network. We have also enhanced our robust online banking platform providing CBD customers the option to pay all their bills online. We are proud to share our advanced technical infrastructure and services with American Express Cardmembers.'
