International Quality and Productivity Center (IQPC) will focus on national security in the Middle East and the increasing threats to the region at a two-day national security summit to be held in October.
IQPC is the global provider of tailored, knowledge-driven conferences.
Abdul Haq Amiri, head of UN OCHA regional office for the Mena and Central Asia said, 'It is a timely event given the increasing threats in the region from natural disasters to conflicts, climate change, oil spills and other environmental and technological threats.'
'An event such as this - which brings together many experienced professionals who are all concerned with the safety and security of civilians - will certainly strengthen the capacity of regional institutions to respond more effectively during emergencies, be they natural or man-made,' he noted.
'It will enable participants to exchange experiences on best practices for reducing risks and also propose measures to mitigate threats,' he added.
Dan Healy, CEO of Real Opinions, said the national security summit will facilitate a better understanding of the sociological, economic and political climate of the region which will enable leaders to make informed decisions based upon their potential impact.
'The summit will include exclusive case studies on national and international best practices and solutions by experts in the international security sector,' observed Lara Sheik Khalil, conference director at IQPC Middle East.
This will address issues such as critical infrastructure protection, civil protection, emergency response, border security, organised crime and strategies to increase interoperability.
The key speakers include Dr Piers Miller, Office for Disarmament Affairs, UN, Col. Azhar Al Kindi, director executive for civil defence, Oman Police HQ and Mohammed Rashid Muhairi, director, Tourist Security Department, Dubai Police, among others.
The summit will be held from October 27 to 28 at Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai, and include an interactive focus on 'Revolutionizing National Security Systems' on October 26.
“We look forward to contributing to this event and sharing our humanitarian experiences - as part of the UN - in disaster management, coordination of preparedness and response,” Amiri added.-TradeArabia News Service
