Emal sponsors 'Women in Engineering'
Abu Dhabi

Emirates Aluminium (Emal) is sponsoring three female engineering students under its “Women in Engineering” (WiE) program to attend a major conference for young engineering professionals and students in London.

The students will participate in the bi-annual Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) Congress, Middle East, Europe and Africa (MEEA) chapter.

“By sponsoring participants who might otherwise not be able to attend, Emal is taking the first of many steps towards diversifying and improving the skills base available to employers in the region,” said Duncan Hedditch, chief of Emal.

“As we will require 14,000 employees during the peak construction phase and an operational workforce of 1,800, Emal is proud to be able to assist young engineering students to broaden their industry experiences,” Hedditch added.

Emal is building the world’s largest, single-site aluminium production facility in Abu Dhabi, said a statement.-TradeArabia News Service
