Harvard Medical School Dubai Centre Institute for Postgraduate Education and Research (HMSDC), a member of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Academic Medical Centre, will host a programme on the ‘Protection of Children and Youth’, as part of its Continuing Medical Education (CME) initiative.
The event on May 10 will be organised in collaboration with Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), a member of Tatweer.
The CME programme is designed for paediatricians, primary care physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, mental health workers, and police officers.
Including didactic lectures, case discussions and interactive sessions led by distinguished faculty, the program will offer a maximum of 5.5 CME credit hours to healthcare professionals.
“Protection of children and youth remains the foremost priority of the medical community. This insightful CME program organized by HMSDC will feature lectures on the identification and management of emotional, physical and sexual abuse, the neglect of children and risks posed by the development in the internet age,” said CEO, DHCC, Dr Muhadditha Al Hashimi.
“In addition to offering valuable tips to medical professionals and strengthening their job-specific skills, the CME programs organized by HMSDC help spread awareness on key social issues.”
Reviewed and approved by the Department of Continuing Medical Education at HMSDC, the programmes are accredited by its Continuing Professional Development department. The credits are also recognised by the UAE Ministry of Health, and the Dubai and Abu Dhabi health authorities.
“The programme on ‘Protection of Children and Youth’ is designed to address the educational needs of healthcare professionals and help them provide effective solutions for the prevention and management of child emotional and mental well being,” said chief academic officer, HMSDC, Dr Robert L Thurer.
HMSDC is a joint initiative of Harvard Medical International (HMI) and DHCC. The CME programmes, led by senior Harvard Medical School faculty, are an integral part of its endeavour to develop DHCC into a centre of excellence for healthcare delivery, education and research. – TradeArabia News Service
