Tawam Hospital in affiliation with Johns Hopkins Medicine, hosted The Annual Paediatric Conference at the Intercontinental Hotel, Al Ain.
The move was part of its yearly strategy to discuss recent advances in general and subspecialty paediatrics, the organisers said.
Featuring prominent speakers from Johns Hopkins Medicine US, Europe, Middle East and local hospitals, the hot topics for the three day conference covered many important general and sub-specialty paediatric diseases such as leukaemia, diabetes, obesity, prematurity and many more.
Four separate workshops - Neonatal Respiratory Support and Mechanical Ventilation, Paediatric Epilepsy, Interpretation of Electrocardiography and Childhood Diabetes (Pens, Pumps and Sensors) - were also held.
Each workshop lasted for two hours and featured the updated practical and hands-on management of those subspecialty diseases. Feedback regarding the workshops has been extremely positive this year, the organisers said.
Dr Kaplan, the chairman of the Department of Paediatrics, senior consultant paediatric endocrinology at Tawam Hospital, said: ‘’Compared to last year, we have seen an increase in the number of attendees not only in from UAE but also from the region.”
Dr Al Malik, Pediatric CME Director and senior consultant paediatric neurology echoed the same view.
“Tawam’s aims are to provide a platform for discussion and to continually expand its field of expertise. We are committed to the development of the UAE’s healthcare sector through treatment, prevention and awareness campaigns. Anything that can help reduce the number of children crippled by incurable diseases at such a young age is of utmost importance to us all,” said Tawam Hospital chief executive officer Michael E Heindel. – TradeArabia News Service
