Meeza, a new privately-held joint venture with Qatar Foundation, has signed an MoU with Vodafone to commence discussions for a long term solutions agreement.
Vodafone Qatar is the holder of the second public mobile telecommunications networks and services licence.
As a newly established IT solutions and outsourcing Company based in Qatar, Meeza, aims to deliver world class IT Solutions and Outsourcing to enable Qatar’s rapidly expanding business community, said a company statement.
It will offer a wide range of services to clients, from creating and managing IT infrastructure to providing full business and technology consulting.
Meeza is seeking to accelerate competition in the IT sector and to support the growth of the Qatari economy through the provision of world-class IT Solutions and Outsourcing to the market.
Additionally, it will provide Qataris with opportunities to undertake fulfilling careers in the IT industry, the statement said.
“We are delighted to be chosen by Vodafone to enable the delivery of telecommunications services in Qatar. This is a good example of how MEEZA will be supporting the growth and success of the Qatar economy through delivery of world-class IT Solutions,” Meeza CEO Scott Mackenzie said.
The solution enables redundant GSM switching capability and a network operations centre, while providing placement for Vodafone’s microwave communications station located in Meeza’s tier III data centre at Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP).
The Meeza tier III data centre will open in October, while their one-of-a kind Tier IV Data Centre is scheduled for completion in 2010.
These data centres will serve as an important foundation on which Meeza will deliver a full portfolio of IT Solutions and Outsourcing Services to the market, Mackenzie explained.
Vodafone Qatar will launch its services in 2009 and will start making several exciting announcements over the next several months.
“Vodafone Qatar is excited by this opportunity to work with Meeza. This will be an important step towards providing world class services to the people in Qatar,” said Vodafone Qatar CEO Grahame Maher.
In order to bring the IT sector in Qatar to the highest world standards within the shortest time, Meeza is building strategic alliances with companies who have earned a strong reputation for delivering innovation and service.
These alliances will ensure that Meeza’s operational capability matches world class standards and will enable them to deliver full turn-key IT solutions for their clients, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
