Jordan embarks on Royal vision to upgrade education
Amman

Stemming from its belief that education is a shaper of minds, Umniah is taking an active part in the Kingdom wide educational reform project Madrasati.

Spearheaded Queen Rania Al Abdullah, Madrasati brings together public, private and non-profit partners in an exciting and new grassroots effort to renovate public schools in urgent need of repair.

Striving to enrich learning environments across the country, and to enhance opportunities for children in 500 schools in total, the first phase of the project targets  100 schools in central Jordan, namely in Amman and Zarqa.

Umniah donated a sum of JD250,000 ($352,609) to the project following the signing of an agreement between Umniah and Madrasati.

This donation was made based upon the company's belief in such educational initiatives which encourages Jordanian institutions and companies to be active in the national efforts to upgrade education. The Madrasati project presents opportunities for companies to be part of efforts made to address new challenges faced by Jordanians.

Umniah held an Iftar banquet on September 14, 2008 for 400 students from the Hai Nazzal area at Abu Huraira Elementary school. During the event, 1300 school bags were distributed to attendees.

"By supporting our community, and by contributing to the creation of a healthy learning environment, we believe that we, at Umniah, are helping shape future generations of sound and positive thinking. Madrasati is effectively enhancing the quality of learning available in schools, and we, at Umniah, are always keen on supporting initiatives that make a difference in the lives of young people," said Umniah communications manager, Rania AbuKhader Salfiti.

Umniah had also supported an Iftar banquet held at Al Ramtha Prince Hamzeh bin Al Hussein Secondary School for Boys.

The banquet was held on September 10, 2008, for the benefit of under privileged community members, and was attended by 100 students from different schools across the city, along with their parents. - TradeArabia News Service
