A conference on technologies of laboratories in oil industries bringing together more than 600 participants will be held in Bahrain later this month.
The first International Laboratory Technology Conference and Exhibition (Lab-Tech) is organised by the Bahrain Society of Chemists and the Saudi Arabian International Chemical Sciences chapter of the American Chemical Society in co-operation with Bahrain's National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) and Saudi Aramco refining laboratory best practices team, said a report in our sister publication, the Gulf Daily News.
The event will be held from October 20 to 22 at the Gulf Hotel.
Oil and Gas Affairs Minister and NOGA chairman Dr Abdulhussain Mirza said the authority was keen on the success of the event, the first of its kind in the kingdom.
The event will concentrate on laboratories in refining processes and means of upgrading them to cope with current and future demands and challenges, quality management, performance parameters, environmental systems and security.
Speakers at the conference include the NOGA chairman, Aramco vice-president of refining Mohammed Gusaier, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology vice-president Prince Turkey bin Saud Al Saud and top researchers and scientists, including Nobel prize winners.
Other speakers include oil and petrochemical industry and laboratory operations specialists from the US, Switzerland, Holland, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, the UAE and Iraq.
The organising and preparatory committee accepted around 60 research papers out of 95 presented from around the world. The research papers will be discussed throughout the three days of the conference.
A special session will also be held on challenges facing laboratories meeting global requirements for checkup accuracy. Four specialised courses will be held before the conference over two days.
On the other hand, more than 35 companies from the US, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Germany, Sweden and Bahrain will take part in the specialised conference held alongside the conference.
The latest technology and techniques used in manufacturing and measuring the quality of petroleum by-products and energy will be on display. - TradeArabia News Service
