Bipex to focus on key projects
Manama

Two technical sessions on the sidelines of the Bahrain International Property Exhibition (Bipex 2008) have attracted a lot of additional interest in the event, organisers said on Monday.

Bipex 2008 organising committee chairman Mohammed Khalil Alsayed said the sessions, on the event's concluding day, would focus on major development projects in Bahrain, said a report in our sister publication, the Gulf Daily News.

The sessions, the first at the five-year-old Bipex, will be conducted by experts in the engineering and construction fields.

Bipex 2008 is being held at the Bahrain International Convention and Exhibition Centre from October 23 to 25.

It is organised by the Bahrain Society of Engineers (BSE), under the patronage of Prime Minister's Court Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.

'The sessions will provide an interesting forum to facilitate exchange of ideas amongst industry players,' said Alsayed, who is also the chief executive officer of Ithmaar Development Company.

'I am confident this will be a harbinger of more such technical debates to come in the future.'

The first session will focus on the design and construction aspects of real estate projects and will be presided over by Mohammed Salahuddin Construction Engineering Bureau president Mohammed Salahuddin.

'It will look at challenges in the execution of the Bahrain City Centre project and the Dilmuna Health Island development, among others,' said Alsayed.

He said experts from the UK and Singapore, among others, would present their ideas at the session.

The second session will focus on the real estate market outlook in Bahrain and will have panel discussions and short speeches by Alsayed and Taameer Development Company chief executive officer Ahmed Al Qattan.

'We are sure this would be a start for facilitating an interactive dialogue that would enable the real estate industry to discuss recent developments as well as understand related impacts for future developments,' said Bipex 2008 publicity committee chairman Rizwan Mumtaz.

He said any further information can be obtained from Adel Abdullah or Shankar Menon on 17727100. - TradeArabia News Service
