The Hilton family was awarded five different accolades ranging from platinum, gold and silver for five of its properties at the fifth annual Mena Travel Awards.
The event was staged on the sidelines of Arabian Travel Market 2008 – the Middle East’s premier travel and tourism event.
Hilton Taba Resort was awarded the Platinum Award as Best Five Star New Hotel for the year 2007 category, while Hilton Sharks Bay in Sharm El Sheikh gained another Platinum Award in the Best Four Star Leisure Hotel category and in the Best Golf Club category, the Hilton Pyramids Golf won a Gold Award.
The Conrad Sharm and the Hilton Alexandria Green Plaza both gained Silver Awards for Best Environmental Hotel and Best Conference/Convention Hotel respectively.
The main factor that made this event a distinguished target for prominent pioneers of tourism and travel industry is that judges are the end users whether guests and travel and trade agencies as opposed to a panel of judges, who vote on the basis of a portfolio supplied by the organisation themselves.
“The Hilton Family of Hotels is extremely pleased to have gained so much recognition, thanks to the great efforts exerted by our colleagues to lead these hotels to be the first and best choice in the region. These awards are our motive to do our best to win a unique position in the world of hospitality through offering ideal criteria of service as it is always known about Hilton,” said Hilton vice-president for Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan and North Africa Simon Hasdell.
The prestigious Mnea Travel Awards are divided into 18 different categories, covering a wide range of tourism sectors such as four and five star hotels, airlines, spas, golf clubs, car rental, duty free, conference and convention locations and tourism projects.
Each category is made up of a total of six short listed finalists, from which three top winners are chosen as: Platinum, Gold and Silver. – TradeArabia News Service
