STS, a leading IT services and enterprise solutions provider in the region, will cooperate  with Al Rajhi Cement, a subsidiary of Al Rajhi Group, Saudi Arabia, to deploy Sun Microsystem’s infrastructure, hardware servers and storage to run enterprise Resource Planning Solution (ERP) based on Oracle E-Business Suite.

Al Rajhi’s prime initiative is to build up a new IT environment to automate the group’s operations and procedures, said an official spokesman.

Deployment of ERP on Sun hardware provided a level of system functionality that would immediately improve expandability and flexibility to support Al Rajhi’s growth.

Similarly important was STS’ exceptional role in implementing Sun’s cutting-edge solutions based on the latest multi-core multi-thread UltraSPARC T2 processor known as the fastest commodity processor and the most energy efficient “system on a chip”.

STS also managed all aspects of Sun’s services that included designing, sizing, capacity planning, back-up strategies, and 24 x 7 mission critical support to meet Al Rajhi’s business requirements.
