Coffee up for 17th day, sugar returns higher

Arabica coffee futures on ICE rose on Wednesday, closing at a 3-1/2 month high on Wednesday, finishing August with their biggest monthly gain in 2011 after rising for 17 days straight, on tight supplies and broad-based gains in commodities.


Global coffee supply up, but prices resilient

Vietnam raised coffee export forecasts for 2011 by 4 per cent and exports from Indonesia nearly doubled last month, but the increase may have little impact on global prices that are underpinned by concerns about scarce good-quality beans.
