Takaful growth in Bahrain highlighted

Manama Solidarity Group hosted a senior management delegation from MAA Takaful, Malaysia led by chief executive officer Salim Majid Zain, who visited Bahrain together with leading agency managers and sales agents.

The delegation was received by Solidarity Group chief executive officer Sameer Al Wazzan and deputy chief executive officer Ashraf Bseisu.

Solidarity Family Takaful general manager Gopi Rao delivered a presentation to the delegation on behalf its operations.

His presentation provided the delegation with an overview of Bahrain's socio-economic climate, an analysis of the country's growing insurance industry and an insight into the rising demand for takaful.

"The takaful industry has entered a high-growth phase," said Rao.

"In a few years we have seen a host of new companies, products and services enter the market.

"In 2006, the kingdom produced takaful contributions of more than $26 million and this figure has been steadily rising year on year.

"Through continued mutual co-operation with our partners in Malaysia, MAA Takaful, we hope to strengthen our network and integrated capabilities in order to position ourselves as the world's leading takaful provider."

MAA Takaful was established in 2006 as a joint venture between MAA Holdings Berhad and Solidarity Company. It has developed into one of Malaysia's leading Islamic insurance companies.-TradeArabia News Service
