NBAD to screen climate change film
Abu Dhabi, August 9, 2010
The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), the leading bank in the UAE, will screen an acclaimed documentary, which examines environmental impact of present day practices on the future.
The screening of 'The Age of Stupid” is part of the bank’s Awareness Sharing Knowledge (ASK), which was launched by NBAD in 2005 to encourage professional learning and information sharing for the welfare and improvement of the community.
“NBAD is committed to operating economic sustainability and one way we approach that is by playing a leading role in creating awareness about environment and climate change through positive action,” said Belinda Scott, the corporate sustainability and responsibility (CSR) officer at NBAD.
“The ASK lectures help us highlight some of the most pressing issues in the UAE, the region and the globe. We will organise interesting and thought-provoking programmes in this campaign.”
The Age of Stupid stars Pete Postlethwaite as a man living alone in the devastated world of 2055. When he sees footage of real people living during our present time he asks: “Why didn’t we stop climate change when we had the chance?”
NBAD has collaborated with The British Council in screening this movie, a statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
