Ithmaar supports Bahrain Cancer Society

Manama, November 29, 2011

Bahrain-based Islamic retail-focused Ithmaar Bank has offered financial support to voluntary non-profit organisation, Bahrain Cancer Society.

Ithmaar Bank’s chief executive and member of the board of directors, Mohammed Abdul Rahman Bucheerei, presented a cheque to Bahrain Cancer Society’s vice president, Dr Ali Mirza Al Qayem.

“As an Islamic retail-focused bank, Ithmaar must play a real and meaningful role in the community,” said Bucheerei. “In particular, we have a responsibility to provide financial and moral support to worthy causes – and that is a responsibility we take very seriously.”

“The Bahrain Cancer Society has long played an important role within the community, driving research and offering support for patients and their families, and we are privileged to be able to help them in their noble cause,” he said.

“Since the establishment of the Bahrain Cancer Society in 1989 as a voluntary non-profitable organisation, it has worked hard to provide education and information to the public about causes of cancer, cancer treatment, and methods of prevention. It has also been supporting relevant research studies undertaken by individuals or institutes and providing training for individuals participating in the field of cancer prevention,” Dr Al Qayem said.

“Our ability to achieve our objectives however is entirely dependent on the participating and support we receive from the community,” he said. – TradeArabia News Service
