Bahrain King set for India visit

His Majesty King Hamad will head to India on Tuesday on an official visit at the invitation of President Pranab Mukherjee, the Royal Court announced yesterday.

The King will hold talks with Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and other senior government officials on deep-rooted historic relations and ways of boosting co-operation.

Regional and international developments and issues of mutual interest will also be on the agenda.

INDIA TIES BOOST

Transportation Minister and Economic Development Board acting CEO Kamal Ahmed said that His Majesty’s visit to India next week is in line with the kingdom’s keen interest to bolster its historical ties with India and South Asian countries and open up new horizons of joint co-operation in all fields.

The minister told Bahrain News Agency that a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding will be signed with India, whose economy is the third in Asia and the fastest growing in the world.

He said His Majesty’s visit is meant to re-affirm Bahrain’s interest to boost its deep-rooted ties with India, which has a great number of investors who can take advantage of Bahrain’s strategic location and investment incentives to enter the $1.5 trillion GCC market. - TradeArabia News Service
