Middle East markets to close for Eid

Dubai, July 26, 2014

Middle East bourses will close for large portions of next week because of Eid al Fitr holidays.

The stock exchanges of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait will close for all of next week and trade will resume on Sunday, August 3, the exchanges said.

Dubai's exchange announced it would shut for three days starting on the first day of the Muslim month of Shawwal; depending on the sighting of the moon, this may be July 28 or 29.

Neighbouring Abu Dhabi, which has not yet announced its holidays, tends to follow the same schedule as Dubai.

Qatar's central bank announced a four-day market holiday starting on July 28, while Egypt's exchange said it would go on a break for three days from July 28 and resume trading on July 31.

Oman's exchange said it would close for three days from July 29 and resume trading on Aug. 3.
