Bahrain Bourse (BHB) and Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) are set to jointly launch an initiative aimed at increasing the awareness of the public about the basics of investment, it was announced yesterday.

Under the initiative monthly training sessions will be organised starting December 6 with subsequent sessions planned for January 10 and February 21 next year, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

Enrolment in the training sessions will be open to Bahrainis and non-Bahrainis through the Bahrain Bourse website (www.bahrainbourse.net) starting today (November 24).

The sessions will be conducted once a month on Saturdays in both Arabic and English.

The English sessions will be held from 8am to noon, while the Arabic sessions will be held from 1pm to 5pm.

A group of highly qualified professionals from BIBF will conduct the training at BHB premises in Bahrain Financial Harbour.

“The initiative is in line with the strategic plan of the bourse with investment awareness as one of its main pillars,” BHB chief executive Shaikh Khalifa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa said.

“The sessions aim to spread investment awareness to assist participants in identifying their rights and obligations when dealing with all capital market-related institutions.”

BIBF director Solveig Nicklos stressed the importance of strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors to address the development needs of the country.

She pointed out that it aligns with BIBF's broader objectives, and that to meet these objectives the institute recently made a number of expansions, most notably the recent launch of the educational dealing room at the BIBF premises.

The initiative is a result of an MoU signed between BHB and BIBF in February this year, paving the way for providing advanced professional standards services in areas of mutual interest, especially those related to the capital market sector. - TradeArabia News Service
