Social workspace for SMEs to grow opens in Dubai

DUBAI, December 17, 2014

The Bureau Dubai, a social workspace that provides support for local SMEs and entrepreneurs to grow and develop, has been opened in the heart of Dubai, UAE.

The exclusive launching event was held with the presence of the founders Naaz Noor, Faten Kaddoura and Shahzad Bhatti and notable business personalities and entrepreneurs boasting lively discussions on creating a strong community of SMEs and helping startups grow and develop, said a statement.

It also featured an art exhibition by local talent Ali Azarmi and exciting Pop Up Shops, it said.

Located in Downtown Dubai, The Bureau Dubai was created as a response to the growing needs of a fast flourishing SME community in the UAE that is actively impacting the local economy.

Its main mandate is to support and empower SMEs through a wide range of professional services; allowing networking opportunities to open doors within the region and on an international level.

“Our aim is to nurture home grown natural talents and entrepreneurs and to show the world that the United Arab Emirates believes in SMEs being the backbone of a strong and successful economy,” said Noor, owner and partner of The Bureau Dubai.

According to the Ministry of Economy, SMEs represent almost 92 per cent of registered firms, and in 2011, contributed to more than 60 per cent of the country’s total GDP.

The UAE has been rated as the world's second most SME friendly government in the world, after Singapore, according to the SME Performance Review for 2013-1014 report.

The report also said that government investment following the UAE winning the bid to host the World Expo 2020 in Dubai, has largely boosted the investment environment in the region.

“We wish to continue and grow the support from the Dubai Government, and to join efforts with the goal to create a community of successful SMEs and entrepreneurs who can within the same community train and invest in startup ideas and help them grow,” added Noor.

The Bureau Dubai offers various packages to suit all sized companies from small single-person startups to growing, mature businesses, said the statement.

The services include investment and financing, trade licenses, sponsorship, workspace and executive support in boutique trendy offices in Saaha Offices, Souk Al Bahar, it added. - TradeArabia News Service
