Kuwait investments in Egypt hit $2.8bn

KUWAIT, January 4, 2015

Kuwaiti investments in Egypt reached $2.8 billion, while commercial trade between the two countries increased 32 per cent in the first three quarters of 2014, a Wam report said.

The news agency quoted Head of the Trade Representation Office at the Egyptian Embassy in Kuwait, Jamal Faisal, as saying that the upcoming visit of Egyptian President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi to Kuwait will enhance the already good bilateral economic relations.

Al-Sisi will begin his two-visit of Kuwait on Monday.

The official noted that commercial exchanges reached $405 million in 2013, an increase of 16 per cent compared to 2012, Wam said citing a Kuwait News Agency report.

"Egyptian exports to Kuwait were $345 million, while Kuwaiti imports from Egypt stood at $60 million per year," added Faisal.

The official also noted that commercial trade has been growing between the two countries, adding that there are currently 927 Kuwaiti companies operating in different fields in Egypt, including tourism, real estate, finance and industry.
