Chief of Oman’s investment body to attend WEF

MUSCAT, January 19, 2015

Dr Salem ben Nasser Al Ismaily, chairman, Ithraa, Oman’s investment body, will join more than 40 heads of state and government at this week’s 45th World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland.

The WEF, running from January 21 to 24, will be attended by 2,500 delegates from business, non-government organizations and social groups. Among world leaders in attendance will include French President,  François Hollande, German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, US Secretary of State, John Kenny and South African President, Jacob Zuma.

The world’s large corporates will also be out in force, Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg, Yahoo’s Marissa Mayer, Satya Nadella of Microsoft and Eric Schmidt of Google are all attending, as is Jack Ma, founder of China’s web giant Alibaba.

This year’s WEF is titled “The New Global Context”, with a focus on environment and resource scarcity; employment skills and human capital; gender parity; long-term investing, infrastructure and development; food security and agriculture; international trade and investment; future of the internet; global crime and anti-corruption; social inclusion; and the future of financial systems. – TradeArabia News Service
