CFA Society Bahrain appoints new president

MANAMA, February 4, 2015

CFA Society Bahrain, the association for local investment professionals of CFA Institute, has appointed Mahmoud Nawar as its new president.

The society's immediate past president Lamees Al Baharna has taken on the role of the presidents' council representative of the CFA societies for East Europe, Middle East and Africa region, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

"I am honoured to take over a role that will play an important part in helping to drive the very best international standards here in the kingdom," Nawar said.

"We will be fully supporting Bahrain's continued growth in the financial market and also global initiatives, leveraging CFA Institute's global network around the world."

He said over the past eight years, the society has promoted the very highest professional standards and ethics, investor education, investor protection and investment standards of practice, amongst others in the kingdom.

It has also helped aspiring young investment professionals to attain the prestigious CFA Charter, recognised as the gold standard investment qualification around the world.

Nawar has more than 12 years of experience working within the financial sector and is currently a vice-president with the debt capital markets team at one of the leading regional investment banks. - TradeArabia News Service
