Open communication 'vital to enhance economic ties'

Open communication with the diplomatic community in identifying and facilitating business and co-operation ties between the business communities of Dubai and their respective countries is vital to enhacing economic co-operation, according to a top official.
 
Speaking at the Diplomatic Circle Dinner for ambassadors and members of the Arab and international diplomatic corps in the UAE, Majid Saif Al Ghurair, chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry lauded the Dubai government's effort towards diversification, which is instrumental in attracting foreign investments into the various economic sectors of the emirate..
 
The meeting was organised by the chamber as part of its efforts to introduce its partners and members of the diplomatic corps to its future plans as well as to inform them about the economic landscape of the emirate.
 
It was attended by more than 140 diplomats and the chamber highlight its past achievements and future directions, while promoting Dubai as a preferred destination for business as well as to open new doors for constructive cooperation with global businesses.
 
Al Ghurair stressed on the diplomatic corps' crucial role in supporting the development of the economic relations, which the emirate's business community enjoys with its global counterparts.
 
Meanwhile, the chamber’s achievements during the last year and its approach in serving the business community in the coming months were also higlighted.
 
Hamad Buamim, president and chief executive officer of the chamber, stated that the drivers of the emirate’s economic growth including trade, tourism, logistics and financial services performed extremely well achieving outstanding growth rates which reflected on Dubai’s position as an attractive investment destination and a global hub for trade and finance.
 
"According to our estimates, the Dubai economy grew by 3.5 to four per cent during the year 2015 and despite the instability prevailing in the global economy, we expect this growth to sustain during the current year due to the farsightedness of our leaders and their focus on the path of sustainable development through innovation, knowledge and creativity.”
 
Meanwhile, he noted that the chamber is looking to expand into Africa, CIS and Latin America as well as to focus on Islamic economy as it plans to organise the third Global Islamic Economy Summit and World Retail Congress and a series of trade missions to promising markets of the world. - TradeArabia News Service
