Qatar bourse delists QTIC

Doha, June 3, 2009

Qatar's bourse will delist the shares of Qatar Technical Inspection Company on Wednesday following its merger with Qatar Fuel Company (Woqod), which reduces the number of listed firms to 42, the bourse said.

'The process of allotting Qatar Technical Inspection shares in Qatar Fuel Company (Woqod) has been completed and the allotment process revealed that each 5.3 shares in Qatar Technical Inspection is swapped by one share in Qatar Fuel,' according to a bourse statement on Tuesday.

Woqod will resume trading on Wednesday after the Doha bourse suspended shares of both companies in May until the merger was completed, the bourse said in the statement.

The appeal of consolidation has increased in Qatar since the fourth quarter of 2008 after the government ordered companies to merge to help them weather the global financial turmoil.-Reuters
