Bahrain Bourse and Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) officials held a meeting and discussed ways of stepping up mutual co-operation aimed to boosting the capital market.

Bahrain Bourse chairman Yousuf Abdulla Humood attended the meeting along with the exchange's executive committee members. BCCI board of directors and executive committee members also attended.

A presentation, highlighting key elements of Bahrain Bourse's strategy approved by the bourse's management was staged.

It included all aspects of work, both legislative and technical, during the coming period.

The presentation also highlighted the key areas of co-operation between the exchange and BCCI that can contribute to the development of various sectors in the national economy.

Humood highlighted the vital and effective role BCCI can play in developing and stimulating the economic activity, as well as supporting the ideas and projects that can promote the local economy in Bahrain.

'Meeting officials from various institutions can assist in finding common areas of co-operation to capitalise on in order to intensify the co-operation and co-ordination between them,' Humood said.

'This will help overcome the obstacles that can slow down the development process between the various components of the kingdom's economy.'

He praised the BCCI's support to the bourse and its efforts to achieve the objectives of its strategy.

BCCI second vice-shairman Adel Hasan Alaali emphasised the importance of enhancing the investment environment in securities and investment instruments to secure the bourse's position as a leading bourse regionally and internationally and a mutual funds hub.

'The continuous development in all aspects of work at Bahrain Bourse according to international standards will ensure a fair, transparent, diversified and efficient market, capable of meeting the needs and expectations of all concerned parties in a professional manner,' he said.-TradeArabia News Service
