Dubai, July 16, 2007

Hyder Consulting, the award-winning engineering, environmental, planning and management consultancy, has announced two new senior appointments to its Middle East team.

Darcy Buryniuk has joined from working recently in Saudi Arabia, China and Hong Kong, as regional director for rail, based in Hyder Consulting’s Dubai office, and Deirdre Dudley-Owen, strategic waste consultant, has joined the company from the UK as a regional chartered waste manager based in Abu Dhabi.

These moves underscore Hyder Consulting’s position as market leader in the region by bringing world experts and professionals to the local market, said a statement.

Hyder Consulting has been offering its award winning consultancy services to clients in the Middle East for 45 years, and 150 years around the world.

Commenting on the appointments, Rod Stewart, Hyder Consulting’s regional managing director for the Middle East, said: “We are pleased to welcome Darcy and Deirdre on board to help us further enhance our position in the market.  With their proven track record in their respective specialist fields, they will provide valuable international expertise and guidance to our local clients.”

Darcy Buryniuk is a registered professional civil engineer with over 25 years experience in the engineering and project management of complex and large rail infrastructure projects.  He has been directly responsible for many major projects, the most significant being the North South Railway in Saudi Arabia, Taipei metro projects in Taiwan and the Sheppard St. Subway in Toronto, Canada.

Deirdre Dudley-Owen is a strategic waste consultant with over eight years experience in the environment industry, specialising in waste and resources management.  She has led and managed a large portfolio of grant funded projects and contractors within the Middle East and UK, and has been directly responsible for the promotion of waste minimization behaviour as part of a Waste Implementation Programme for the UK Government.   She has also been involved with local UK authorities to create new projects to encourage countywide participation in recycling and waste minimization. – TradeArabia News Service
