Jumeirah Golf Estates awards key projects
Dubai, March 29, 2008
Jumeirah Golf Estates has awarded two key building contracts for phase A of the property development to Al Naboodah Laing O’ Rourke Company and ANC Contracting, a member of the ANC group of companies.
Jumeirah Golf Estates is Dubai’s premier residential golf development and host venue for the Dubai World Championship from 2009.
ANC Contracting is building 99 villas within the Flame Tree Ridge community and 66 villas in the Fireside community.
ANC Contracting has already mobilized to site and undertaken preparatory works in advance for the villa construction, which is now underway and on schedule, said a company official.
Additionally, Al Naboodah Laing O’ Rourke Company will construct the Whispering Pines cottages and casitas, together with the prestigious Norman Clubhouse and ancillary buildings.
David Spencer, chief executive officer - Golf for Leisurecorp, the owner of Jumeirah Golf Estates, said: “We are delighted to formally announce ANC Contracting and Al Naboodah Laing O’ Rourke as key contractors for properties at Jumeirah Golf Estates.'
'Both firms are now part of the team delivering not only unique world-class courses but what will be on completion, the most desirable residential communities in Dubai,' he observed.
Chris Preece, general manager of ANC Contracting, commented: “ANC is proud to be associated with this premier development and looks forward to partnering with Jumeirah Golf Estates in the successful delivery of this exceptional quality project.'
'The use of a partnering form of contract is a credit to the client in having the foresight to recognize the advantages of such a contract in the current very buoyant market conditions,' he added.
Norman Haste, chief operating officer of Al Naboodah Laing O’Rourke, said the award was significant to the company as a business, in view of the high quality nature of Jumeirah Golf Estates and its position as one of the world’s leading golf developments.
“The nature of the Whispering Pines and the Norman Clubhouse projects has allowed us to introduce a number of innovative pre-fabrication and other ‘modular’ construction techniques which will ensure the highest levels of programme certainty, quality and safety standards for the client.”
The first phase of villas at Whispering Pines has been excavated for foundations with underground piping work completed with construction on schedule.
The Norman Clubhouse, which broke ground in December, is also moving along with excavation for foundations now in progress.
The 107,000 sq ft Clubhouse, will be home to an ultra-modern practice and golf academy, as well as restaurants, bars and a spa. The Clubhouse’s Sports Centre will feature a fully-equipped gymnasium, tennis center, lap pool and a leisure-focused lagoon.-TradeArabia News Service
