Abu Dhabi will spend over $1 billion on extending its drainage and sewage systems, the government said on Wednesday.
Abu Dhabi's population is expected to surge to nearly 3.17 million by 2030 from around 1.3 million at present. The emirate has embarked on a wide-ranging expansion plan, fuelled by record oil export income.
International contractors will be invited to bid for the Dh4 billion ($1.09 billion) project, Abdulla Saif Al Nuaimi, the director of privatisation at Abu Dhabi's Water and Electricity Authority said at a presentation.
