Al Nujoom water canal ready

Dubai, November 24, 2008

Al Hanoo Holding said the 35 km water canal connected to Al Nujoom Islands project in Sharjah has been completed and would open soon.

The engineering staff have completed the water canal, and finished final adjustments on the project's master plan, at a cost of Dh600 million ($163 million), by implementing a new water cycling system, said a Gulf News report.

"With the completion of water canal works, which is considered one the most important stages of development, Al Hanoo is pre-paring to enter a new stage of development for one of the largest and most distinct waterfront projects in the region," said Al Hanoo Holding chairman Shaik Abdullah Bin Fahid Al Shakrah.

The next stage seeks to complete the linking of the islands through a hydraulic method to avoid any sudden pressure caused by seawater entering the canals, he added.
