Alfanar wins Makkah power project

Alfanar Construction, a part of Alfanar Group, has signed a contract to build a new 380kV substation worth SR444 million for Makkah West with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC).

This project will help meet the growing demand for electricity in Makkah, especially the Holy Al Harram area where the project will distribute electricity to the new facilities located in the area.

As part of an interconnection plan, the proposed substation will also be linked to several other substations, including the Aziziah South substation and the Shoaibah substation, and the 380 kV overhead transmission lines in Makka. The scheduled time for the implementation of this project is 29 months.

Alfanar construction has implemented several key projects for the Saudi Electricity Company in different parts of the kingdom, with a total value of more than SR3 billion, said the statement.
 
One of the key projects being executed by Alfanar is the 380/110/13.8kV AlKandarah substation in Jeddah with a contract value nearing SR500 million. This project will serve the central part of Jeddah city and aims at increasing the reliability of electricity in those areas, it said.

Alfanar is also involved in the expansion of Sharourah power plant by adding three generating units with a total 51 MW power capacity at a value of more than SR380 million.  In addition, Alfanar Construction has been awarded the construction of 380 kV substation connecting Rabigh (2) Power plant- first phase worth SR505 million.

The contract for Makkah West project was signed by Eng Ali Saleh Al Barrak, CEO of Saudi Electricity Company, and Eng Sabah Al-Mutlaq, vice chairman of Alfanar Group, in the presence of Eng Abdullah Al-Hamad, division manager of Alfanar Construction. -TradeArabia News Service
