$167 million flyover opens in Bahrain

Manama, July 17, 2010

A new flyover costing BD63 million ($167 million) has opened in the Umm Al Hassam region in Bahrain.

Construction work related to the upper flyover of Umm Al Hassam junction and the two western flyovers has been completed and the first phase of the project has opened to traffic.

Works Minister Fahmi Al Jowder said that the Sitra Bridge and Umm Al Hassam junction development project is considered to be one of the biggest and most complicated road projects implemented by the ministry.

The project spans an area of more than 3.2 km, from Umm Al Hassam junction to the Industrial Area junction in Sitra, with a length of 1.5 km along the Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway.

The project also consists of underground infrastructure, with high and low voltage cables, water, sewage, gas and irrigation pipes.

A second causeway, from Sitra to Manama, is set to be opened in October, said a report in our sister newspaper Akhbar Al Khaleej. – TradeAtabia News Service
