Face readies ME's first DM1 compliant floor

Dubai, October 12, 2010

Dubai-based Face Middle East said it has readied the region's first Defined Movement 1 (DM1) fully compliant floor at the new facility of Redington Gulf, a leading IT distributor in the MEA region, at Jebel Ali Freezone, Dubai.

Face ME is a part of the CoGri Group of companies, a consortium of international industrial floor solution specialists with over 20 years global experience in the design, construction and upgrading of industrial concrete floors.

The floor was tested and certified by Face Consultants, a United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) accredited organisation for flatness compliance testing.

Face Middle East said its team was invited by the main contractor to review the approved design for the floor slab. Following this review, its engineering team supervised the commencement of the floor slab construction.

In total, 21 Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) slabs were surveyed by Face Consultants and certified as fully compliant with DM1, it added.

Chidambaram, general manager SCM, Redington Gulf, who also heads the ADC Project, said, "The major objective to insist on DM1 flooring was to increase efficiency, better throughput, speed & the safety movement for all our Material Handling Equipments (MHE). We wanted to achieve the best possible result for our flooring surface."

"Floor Surface regularity is the most important aspect for a VNA Racking facility especially when the racking has a top beam height of 15 metres," he explained.

Lauding Face Consultants for the feat, Chidambaram said, "We are proud to be the first in the region to have a DM1 compliant Floor.”

Face Middle East said with this DM 1 floor completion the company had added Redington Gulf to its list of satisfied clients in the Middle Eastern region.-TradeArabia News Service
