Seminar to highlight new BIM solutions
Muscat, September 20, 2011
Raising more awareness on 2012 building information modeling (BIM) solutions and how the technology can support AEC professionals in executing more complex projects will form the agenda for an upcoming seminar in Muscat.
Hosted by Omnix International, a leading BIM solution provider, Autodesk Live Event 2012 will take place tomorrow (September 21) at the Crown Plaza Muscat.
Omnix has teamed up with leading architects, interior designers, structural and MEP consultants to showcase the significance BIM solutions within the country’s booming construction industry.
Oman has a vibrant construction sector with 2.1 per cent growth and over RO1.2 billion ($3.1 billion) worth of construction projects underway or in the planning stages, according to a recent report from Business Monitor International (BMI), a leading business research and intelligence firm.
The BMI report also reveals the significant potential of Oman's infrastructure sector with a number of contracts having been awarded in 2011 and substantial new investment planned. The momentum in infrastructure sector is expected to bring in an overall 5.06 per cent real growth towards the end of the year.
The confidence in the construction segment is backed by Oman’s five year spending plan, which covers 2011 to 2015 and predicts over RO30 billion worth of spending with a 113 per cent increase.
Of this total figure, RO6 billion will go to the oil industry and RO3 billion will be spent on property developments.
Looking to play a key role in this expected growth, Omnix is currently keying in major strides to leverage Autodesk 2012 BIM as an integrated suite of solutions across these major projects in Oman.
“Oman, like the rest of the Middle East region, is currently exerting key efforts to recover from the recent economic downturn, The move towards recovery has been marred with key issues like retaining manpower and the need to meet project deadlines,” said Dr Jayant M Deshpande, director, CAD Division, Omnix.
“We are committed to support Omani companies in the manufacturing, building and infrastructure space with solutions that drive their productivity and profitability in Oman.”
“Holding this strategic seminar will help us reach out to our target audience of AEC professionals and make them more aware of the advantages and benefits of using strategic solutions like Autodesk 2012,” he added.
“Investing in a strategic BIM based software solution like ‘Autodesk 2012’ will give Oman AEC firms the ability to accurately visualize, simulate and analyze project performance, appearance and cost, which results in the creation of more resource efficient building and infrastructure,” Dr Deshpande continued.
“We remain upbeat towards Oman’s recovery and look towards being a major part of this growth by leveraging on our 20 years worth of experience in implementing and distributing ‘Autodesk’ products in the region,” he concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
