Dubai starts major road project work

Dubai , September 25, 2011

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has started work on the internal roads project at Al Barsha 1, 2 and 3 in Dubai, said a report.

The project will be constructed in four phases and is scheduled for completion by the first half of 2014, the Gulf News reported, citing RTA officials.

"The construction of road projects at residential areas stemmed from RTA's plan to improve roads network to cope with the requirements of demographic growth and expansion in the emirate," said Mattar Al Tayer, RTA chairman and executive director.

"The importance of the project is highlighted by the remarkable urbanisation rate which clocked 85 per cent in the area and the sprout of malls & commercial centres." he added.
