Green building initiatives discussed

Manama, October 3, 2011

A delegation from the International Bank in Washington recently met Bahrain's Minister of Works Essam Bin Abdulla Khalaf and discussed methods and applications of renewable and permanent energy and green buildings initiatives.

The meeting came in line with a workshop organised in coordination with the Ministry of Finance under the title ‘Ideal Use of Energy’, a statement from the ministry said.

The minister introduced the delegation to MoW’s field of work and the different services provided by them, in addition to initiatives adopted by the ministry in the field of energy and green buildings, which aim to provide a better life for citizens and follow international approaches aiming to protect the environment.

He also highlighted the ministry’s experience in applying green building practices on a number of projects such as schools, currently under design, the statement said.

This approach aims to provide a safer and healthier environment for students, where central air-conditioning and environment friendly materials were used, all of which have limited impact on global warming phenomenon and ozone layer. In order to save energy, air-conditioning and lighting systems are controlled through the building management system. – TradeArabia News Service
