Nakheel to await RERA decision on fees

Dubai, January 5, 2012

Dubai-based property developer Nakheel denied locking out paid up residents of Palm Jumeirah Shoreline Apartments to its beach clubs, a report said.

The company, in a statement, reiterated its position on common facilities access for residents at the apartments and said it is waiting for the Real Estate Regulatory Agency's (RERA) final decision on whether they can make owners and residents pay for access, said the report in the Gulf News.

Last month Nakheel said it planned to roll out fees for residents of up to Dh5000, and open up the clubs to outside members at a cost of Dh12,000 a year, the report said.

“This issue is under review by RERA, and we await their decision on the way forward. Naturally, we will respect whatever decision they make,” the report quoted Nakheel chairman Ali Rashid Lootah as saying.
