Bahrain infrastructure projects on track

Manama, January 11, 2012

All roads and other infrastructure projects in Bahrain are on schedule and will be completed according to plan, said a senior government official.

Works Ministry Under-Secretary Nayef Al Kalali said several other projects were at the stage of awarding contracts and, once given out, construction would begin.

Al Kalali was speaking after opening the Arabian Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Insulation and Refrigeration Exhibition at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre.

The event, which concludes today, is organised by Exposure Media and is being held under the patronage of Works Minister Essam Khalaf.

"Several projects are in the pipeline and these will further improve infrastructure, particularly roads," he said. "Bahrain is making great strides in setting up its infrastructure in line with the country's 2030 Economic vision."

He said Bahrain has been encouraging the use of green technology in its construction projects and this was even more evident in the projects that had been planned in the future.

Sixty exhibitors are taking part in the show, which is expected to attract nearly 2,500 delegates from Bahrain and overseas.

Al Kalali, accompanied by other Works Ministry officials, earlier went around the show to look at the latest equipment and techniques on display.

Earlier, Exposure Media managing director Sijo Joseph said Bahrain had taken a lead in the use of green technologies in construction, but another vital component was electrical fittings, plumbing, refrigeration and air-conditioning.

He said engineers and designers were already making rapid strides in this area and several novel solutions were being implemented in ongoing and upcoming projects. – TradeArabia News Service
