Arabtec to build major tower in Dubai
Abu Dhabi, November 6, 2013
Arabtec Construction, a leading building contractor in the region, has won a Dh1.8 billion ($490 million) deal for the construction of a mixed-use high-rise tower on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai.
The company is a subsidiary of Arabtec Holding, a leading engineering and construction group in the Mena region.
Just one block away from the world’s tallest building Burj Khalifa, which was constructed by Arabtec Construction, the tower will be one of Dubai’s top 10 tallest buildings and the second tallest tower in its central business district.
The 77-floor mixed-use tower will rise to a height of 369.1 m and will comprise over 22,000 sq m of office space on 18 floors, and 908 sq m of retail area. It will also include a new international 350-room hotel and 83 serviced apartments as well as 180 luxurious apartments, Arabtec said.
Negotiations are underway with a number of world-leading hospitality brands for the mangement of the six-star hotel and serviced apartments which will collectively occupy 25 floors.
Construction of the tower, designed by the world-renowned Atkins, is scheduled to begin in mid-November 2013 and will take 42 months to complete, it said.
Hasan Abdullah Ismaik, managing director and CEO of Arabtec Holding, said: “This project is further recognition of Arabtec’s track record in delivering world-class mixed-use developments. This tower will be a quality addition to Arabtec’s already high profile backlog in the UAE and across the region. Our appointment to build this high-rise building in the heart of Dubai’s business center is a strong endorsement of our unique capabilities in delivering high-quality complex structures.”
Ismaik added: “We are pleased to continue our long-time contribution to the urban development of the UAE and the region in general. This project is another sign of the recovery of the property sector in the UAE and the Middle East and North Africa Region.”
Upon completion in May 2017, this tower will be the world’s 26th tallest building. Arabtec has already built seven out of the world’s 150 tallest structures, including the world’s tallest man-made structure, the 830-metre Burj Khalifa, the company said. - TradeArabia News Service
