R&M wins Oman residential project contract

Dubai, March 13, 2014

Reichle & De-Massari (R&M), the Swiss structured cabling specialist, said it has been contracted to deliver a high-performance, end-to-end cabling infrastructure solution for the Panorama commercial and residential project in Oman.

The R&M order includes its proprietary Cat. 6 UTP connectivity technology for voice, video and data transmission. It will provide the backbone for delivery of reliable, secure and high-speed internet, IPTV, CCTV, videoconferencing and similar modern day communication applications, said a statement from R&M.

The Panorama project will be situated in the Al Khuwair commercial district of Muscat, five minutes away from Ruwi, the central business district of the country.

Allied Real Estate, an established Omani real estate company owned by Sheikh Salim bin Ali al Siyabi, a prominent business leader in Oman, is behind the project.

Panorama involves construction of a commercial and residential complex consisting of 7 towers, each comprising 2 basement levels, a ground floor and 7 additional floors.

Two towers are for 5 star hotels, each offering 140 rooms, 4 towers for serviced apartments and 1 tower for office premises. This complex will also include a shopping mall, 3 cinema halls, food courts, a library, a health club and lifestyle stores.

On the order, the Swiss firm said the cabling solution comprises 4500 points of R&M Cat. 6 copper cables enabling upto 10Gbe connectivity and supporting applications with bandwidth of up to 500 MHz.

The installation of the R&M cables is expected to be completed by March 2014, said a senior official.

It is being carried out by the cabling vendor’s partner, Al-Jassar Telecom (AJT), a company that has been providing ICT products and services to the industrial and construction sectors in the Sultanate for nearly two decades.

Sunil Nair, the business head at Al-Jassar Telecom said, "As an ELV system integrator our responsibility was to design, supply,  install, test, commission and maintain the whole ELV system for the Panorama project. The challenge was to provide world class products at a competitive price."

AJT has signed a five year annual maintenance contract (AMC) with the project developers and a dedicated team of trained engineers will ensure that the infrastructure operates at the highest levels of efficiency and performance.

Samuel Godfrey, the country manager for Oman at R&M, said Oman was a very important market for the company and it was building up a strong portfolio of very good reference projects, the latest being Panorama.

"Our local presence is a definite advantage as we are always available in person to meet clients and partners whenever they are in any need of technical clarification and design changes. Our technical training sessions for partners and clients are significant value additions we offer to the local market," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
