Doha, March 18, 2014

Over 400 local, regional and international delegates are in Doha to attend the two-day 'Meed Qatar Projects Conference 2014' which opened today (March 18).

These delegates will get to explore opportunities available as Qatar enters the critical stage of its FIFA World Cup 2022 preparations and its commitment to delivering on its National Vision 2030, said the event organisers.

The annual Meed Qatar Projects conference being held at the Grand Hyatt Doha will highlight increasing progress in the delivery of projects with a total value of more than $300 billion due to be completed by 2030, some of which include the Expressway Programme, the IDRIS programme and the Hamad International Airport project, they stated.

Delegates will have access to fresh insights from over 85 top speakers on project opportunities across Qatar's infrastructure, transport, oil, gas, and power & water sectors, the organisers added.

Speakers include project owners from Qatar Petroleum, Ashghal, Qatar Foundation, Total, Sasol Qatar, Oryx GTL, NDIA Steering Committee, the Al Karaana project, Nakilat, Ministry of Municipality & Urban Planning, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Environment, Hamad Medical Corporation, Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, Manateq and the ExxonMobil Research Centre.

Top Qatari clients who will be sharing important updates and strategic insight include Mohammed Al Hajri, the downstream director at Qatar Petroleum; Yasser Al Mulla, the project manager at Al Rayyan Precinct, Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy; and Stain van Ells, the CEO at Al Karaana Project.

Delivering the keynote address, Sheikh Abdulla Saud al-Thani, the Governor of Central Bank of Qatar, spoke about the latest developments and initiatives by Qatar’s premier financial authority in achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030; as well as headline address from Ali Al Kuwari, the acting group CEO at Qatar National Bank.

Edmund O’ Sullivan, the chairman of MEED Events, said: "We’ve once more assembled a fantastic programme of speakers who will provide an update about the delivery of one of the world’s most ambitious portfolio of megaprojects."

"It’s the ideal platform to meet new contacts, find new business opportunities by connecting with attendees through the scheduled networking breaks and enjoying conversation during the Gala Dinner," he noted.

"There are 64 sessions over a packed three-day programme, designed strategically to focus on two tracks - Energy and Utilities as well as Infrastructure and Transport – the objective is to provide a complete answer to all the questions about trends and prospects in Qatar’s megaprojects market," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
