Projects worth $651m on the way in Bahrain

Manama, March 19, 2014

Tenders worth $651 million to build housing units in Hidd and Northern City, two 400KW main power transmission stations and education infrastructure projects will be awarded this month.

HRH the Crown Prince said the launch of development and service projects aims to meet present and future needs through investments in the GCC Development Programme, reported the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

He was speaking as he chaired an executive committee meeting in Gudaibiya Palace yesterday, where online services launched by the e-Government Authority also came under scrutiny.

The education sector will receive a boost in coming months with a number of projects at public schools throughout the kingdom, funded by the GCC programme, the committee announced.

The Crown Prince said that housing development accounts for majority of the projects, in line with His Majesty King Hamad's directives to provide housing that fully meets the needs of families and improve public services.

The committee also covered latest developments in the e-complaints and suggestions system (Tawasul), which was launched last year by the e-Government Authority, with particular focus on mobile and online connection applications.

It reviewed the achievements of the Tawasul system, including the selection of 12 government entities which are set to subscribe to the system in the near future.

The panel reviewed a status report on a suite of 38 interactive applications developed by the EGA to facilitate improved interaction with the public. The development of phone applications that offer an additional 23 services was also discussed. - TradeArabia News Service
