30 French firms to take part in Qatar trade show

Doha, April 14, 2014

More than 30 French companies are set to showcase technology and innovation for the construction sector at a trade show in Qatar next month.

Project Qatar, the 11th international construction technology and building materials exhibition, will take place from May 12 to 15 at the Qatar National Convention Centre.

The French pavilion has been organised by Ubifrance, the French agency for the international development of companies.

The exhibitors include specialists in concrete, plaster, worksite accommodations, sanitation, electricity, transport/lifting and woodworking machines. The decoration sector will also be represented with specialists in lighting, interior/exterior doors, technical textile and a professional aquarium designer.

There is increasing interest in sustainable and ecological buildings, energy efficiency and construction using wood, intelligent buildings or home automation, innovative materials and design, said a statement.

Qatar imported nearly $1.3 billion of construction equipment and materials in 2012. It was the third largest CCG market with $10.4 billion contracts awarded, including four-fifth in transportation infrastructures. The construction industry alone represents 5.66 per cent of the country’s GDP.

Meanwhile, the country also invests massively in real estate and luxury hotel properties in France. It is currently a majority shareholder of PSG, the French capital’s football club, and also holds shares in many major French companies.

The French pavilion at Project Qatar is aimed at strengthening existing partnerships and develop new joint-ventures, promote the Made-in-France model, and make solid connections with local contractors, distributors and agents. - TradeArabia News Service
