Turkey’s TAV eyes UAE, Saudi construction deals

Dubai, May 18, 2014

Turkish construction firm and airport operator conglomerate TAV Group is is looking at key construction projects in the UAE along with public-private partnerships in Saudi Arabia, said a report.

TAV is already involved in the construction of the Dh10.8 million ($2.94 million) Midfield Terminal project at Abu Dhabi International and has invested $1.2 billion in Saudi’s Madinah airport, which it operates, reported the Gulf News, citing a senior official.

“There are also some other private concession projects coming in Saudi [Arabia],” said Sani Sener, the group chief executive and president of TAV Airports Holding.

TAV Airports operates 14 airports across Europe, Turkey and the Middle East and is looking to expand its portfolio with a consortium bid for a tender at New York’s LaGuardia airport.

Sener said the Gulf region represents a huge market for the company with oil-rich governments making sizeable investments in infrastructure. "The company would like to be in African airports as well," he added.
