Bahrain-based Nass Asphalt has joined hands with Wring Group of the UK to set up a joint venture company which will carry out specialist industrial demolition, removal of hazardous materials and recycling.

The new firm, Gulf Demolition and Recycling Company, which will be set up in the next two months will be a regional pioneer, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

The two companies yesterday signed a MoU at the ninth Middle East Refining and Petrochemicals Conference and Exhibition (Petrotech 2014) at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre, which is expected to lead to the creation of the company.

The conference and exhibition is being held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.

"There are existing relationships between the two companies that suggest a natural progression," said Wring Group director John Wring after signing the MoU with Nass Group director Fawzi Nass.

"Health, safety, environment and sustainability will be key focus areas where expertise will be used," he added.

Meanwhile, Nass Marine Services announced it has bagged a BD1 million ($3 million) order from Al Jazeera Shipping Company for the construction of two barge units.

The contract was signed yesterday at the Nass Corporation stand at the show.

"Construction of the two 180 feet barges will start this month and they will be ready for launch within four months," Al Jazeera Shipping Company managing director Ali Hassan Mahmood said.

Al Jazeera Shipping Company has been active in the maritime industry and the offshore and oil industry for over the last 35 years.

It has a fleet of more than 150 units consisting of various sizes and types of tugs, barges and other equipment.

"Using the show as a platform to display our industrial competitive capability to the regional market, we guarantee that we comply with the highest standard of construction," Nass Marine Services general manager David McKay said.

"This barge order brings additional work and stability to Nass Marine and continues our efforts to provide quality and cost effective shipbuilding and repair services."

Four Nass group companies, Nass Industrial Services, Nass Marine, Sarens Nass and Gulf Demolition and Recycling Company took part in the exhibition to display their specialist turnkey capability to the fast growing petroleum, oil and gas sector.-TradeArabia News Service
