Oman to host GCC rail, metro conference

Muscat, June 23, 2014

Oman will hold a first of its kind conference whereby the six GCC states come together to create strong manufacturing and services industries around the massive investments in rail and metro projects.

The GCC Metro and Rail Conference (GMRC 2014) will be hosted on September 15 and 16 in Muscat by Oman's Ministry of Transport and Communications, in collaboration with the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf - Secretariat General.

The conference will also establish the vision towards a sustainable development of the GCC economies and diversifications efforts.

The event is the only conference supported and organized by the Ministry of Transport and Communications in Oman and The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf - Secretariat General.

The conference will spell out the potential manufacturing, service and training opportunities available to investors and the private sector, including small and medium enterprises.

It will discuss the challenges and obstacles that stand in front of private sector active participation in the rail sector and consequently the development of policies and plans to overcome these barriers and stimulate the participation of the private sector.

The event will host in addition to the key decision-makers in the rail and metro sector in the GCC, renowned speakers and experts in the field of building industrial capacity.

It is expected that the conference will attract a wide range of companies and institutional investors in the GCC countries and the world's leading companies in manufacturing and projects development.

This event is a unique platform for those wishing to make the most of these projects through direct interaction with the leaders of these large-scale GCC projects under one roof, a statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
