Ducab wins key Saudi supply contract

Dubai, June 29, 2014

Dubai Cable Company (Ducab), a leading manufacturer of cabling products in the Middle East region, said it has won a major supply contract for a major project in Saudi Arabia.

As per the deal, Ducab will supply cables and accessories to the Saudi Arabian authorities responsible for the expansion and enhancement of the Mataf area beside Al Masjed Al Haram within Makkah.

The expansion project aims to strengthen infrastructure and increase capacity in this area from 50,000 pilgrims per hour to 130,000 pilgrims per hour, said a statement from the company.

Ducab said the company has been mainly selected for its internationally-certified low smoke zero halogen (LSZH) cables & wires in addition to the FlamBICC range of fire retardant cables.

Commenting on the win, chairman Jamal Salem Al Dhaheri said: "We have been given an opportunity to work closely with the most iconic symbol of the Middle East, and as a UAE-based firm, it is a matter of pride – and a sign of our commitment to our culture and community – that we are playing a role in the expansion and strengthening of facilities at Makkah."

"It is an honour to be chosen to help ensure the safety of our brothers and sisters while they carry out their pilgrimage and sacred duties at Al Masjed Al Haram," he added.

According to him, Ducab has a history of success in Saudi Arabia, having supplied cables and accessories for the King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh, and the Ras Al Khair project in the eastern province.

“Our certified cables have been selected for their proven longevity and ability to perform well even in testing conditions," stated Al Dhaheri.

We have been driving the conversation with civil defence authorities and our customers around the world on fire safety and the benefits of low-smoke, zero-halogen cables, and this selection is testament to Ducab’s leadership in this area”, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
