Nakheel to award Dubai substation contracts
Dubai, July 2, 2014
Dubai-based Nakheel, one of the world’s leading developers, is set to award consultancy services contracts for eight substations at Deira Islands, its new, 15.3 sq km waterfront city in Dubai.
Two engineering consultancies - Green Energy and Energoprojekts - will carry out design review and infrastructure site supervision services for the 132/11kv substations that will supply power to the four-island development, the company said.
The announcement comes two days after Nakheel awarded a contract for almost Dh40 million to RSP Architects, Planners and Engineers for design and supervision work on Deira Islands Mall.
Deira Islands will add 40km, including 21km of beachfront, to Dubai’s coastline and pave the way for hundreds of tourism, leisure and residential developments.
Last month, Nakheel launched the tender for the design and construction of nine beaches at Deira Islands, and in April awarded contracts worth over Dh47 million to US-based AE7 for infrastructure design and architectural and engineering services at the project.
A key player in realising the vision of Dubai for the 21st century, Nakheel has delivered – and continues to enhance – an iconic portfolio of innovative landmark projects in Dubai across a range of sectors including residential, commercial and leisure.
Its current portfolio of developments in Dubai includes Palm Jumeirah, The World, Deira Islands, Jumeirah Islands, Jumeirah Village, Jumeirah Park, Jumeirah Heights, The Gardens, Discovery Gardens, Al Furjan, Warsan Village and International City. Together, these span nearly 14,000 hectares and provide homes for more than 200,000 people.
Retail developments include Dragon Mart, Ibn Battuta Mall, Nakheel Mall and Hotel, The Pointe at Palm Jumeirah and a growing number of neighbourhood malls. Nakheel is also developing hotels at Palm Jumeirah, Deira Islands, Ibn Battuta and Dragon Mart.-TradeArabia News Service
