Bahrain starts road revamp work

The Bahrain Ministry of Works has started work on the Sheikh Ahmed bin Salman Avenue revamp project in the Riffa area of the kingdom.

The ministry's Roads Projects & Maintenance director Raed Al Salah said the BD409,032 ($1.07 million) project has been awarded to National Excavations. The work in Riffa 905 extends from Riffa Avenue at the North to Sheikh Isa Avenue at the South.

This is part of the ministry’s programme to revamp old and deteriorated roads in residential areas across Bahrain, he noted.
 
The works include re-construction and revamping of 835-m-long Sheikh Ahmed bin Salman Avenue with one way on each direction. It also involves re-construction of the avenue by removing the old asphalt layers, carrying out levelling works,
organizing the intersections between internal roads and constructing parking spaces on the road sides.

The ministry will also implement a storm water drainage network, ground channels for future use, paving and pedestrian pavements works in addition to lighting works, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
