Phase II of Jumeirah corniche project completed

DUBAI, September 14, 2014

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the second phase of the Jumeirah Corniche Development project spanning 2.5-km.

The beach side, which will extend to 4.5 km after the development project, is due to open for the public this month, according to a statement from the RTA.

With this work, 77 per cent of the project has been completed, said a senior official.

"The newly-completed sector of the corniche will be open for the public in the third week of this month, and now walking and jogging enthusiasts can practice and enjoy their hobbies at the Corniche," remarked Maitha bin Udai, the CEO of RTA Traffic and Roads Agency.

The Jumeirah Corniche Development project, which extends about 7 km, encompasses a 5-m-wide walk, 4-m-wide jogging track, and rest areas including retail kiosks, shaded benches overlooking the beach as well as public and health amenities.

"The project features extensive landscaping and flooring works in addition to decorative lighting in a stylish and innovative manner," stated bin Udai.

The development is due for opening in October.-TradeArabia News Service
