L&T wins major Oman air base contract

MUMBAI, September 21, 2014

Leading Indian construction conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said it has won a major order from Oman's Ministry of Defence for construction of an air base in the Sultanate.

The Omani subsidiary clinched the deal for the Adam Air base in Al Dakhiliya Governorate amid stiff international competition, said a company release.

On the win, SN Subrahmanyan, the member of the board and senior executive vice-president (Infrastructure and Construction), L&T, said: "We have been gradually establishing our credentials in the Middle East and, especially in Oman, as a construction organisation of calibre with the successful execution of many prestigious projects including the Salalah International Airport."

"This order that we have won is a reaffirmation of our capability to deliver projects of magnitude and high criticality with superior quality within stipulated timelines," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
